Saving money doesn’t always mean cutting corners. Luxury vinyl remains one of the top hard surface flooring selections and often costs much less than its hard surface counterparts. But the savings don’t stop with the initial purchase. Here, we’ll quickly discuss other ways that luxury vinyl floors can save more, both in the short-term and long.
We see it often; homeowners foregoing new floors not because of the cost itself, but the installation price. Typically, installing new floors is a process that costs time and money. But with the click installation method included on many of our luxury vinyl floors, installation is a breeze and, often, a simple DIY project. Most click flooring also use floating installation, which means that it can “float” over your existing floors, thus eliminating the time and cost of removal.
When vinyl floors first hit the market, they were off to a rocky start. Homeowners quickly realized how easy they were to scratch, dent, and tear. Unfortunately, this stigma has stuck around.
These days, luxury vinyl floors are some of the most durable on the market – often rivaling engineered hardwood. ScufResist™ Platinum Finish and similar treatments applied during manufacturing protect the surface from scrapes and scratches.
Under the surface wear layer, there is also a base wear layer. This provides more protection against damage. Below that, a core layer consisting of fiberglass or PVC (or a composite of both) provides stability and structural integrity.
Put simply, LVP and LVT floors are built to last. Most of the luxury vinyl flooring we carry is backed by a lifetime warranty. Once you’ve installed vinyl floors, you’ll never have to worry about replacing them again.
Luxury vinyl floors have no absorption rate and are completely waterproof. Unlike the hardwood and ceramic tile floors they mimic, vinyl tiles and planks will never expand from moisture, even if spills aren’t cleaned right away.
Many luxury vinyl floors also feature a completely waterproof installation process. This means that moisture is completely locked out from the subfloor, which helps prevent the growth of mold and mildew. In other words, two of the most harmful and expensive repairs that a home can incur are prevented with ease.
What makes a home appealing? Sure, it has to look great. But savvy buyers want those looks to continue, and they want a home that needs as little maintenance as possible.
Imagine telling buyers that their new floors are completely waterproof AND also designed to prevent spills from seeping into the subfloor – in other words, that their new home is designed to help prevent mold growth. Imagine also telling them that their new floors resist dents better than hardwood and are backed by a lifetime warranty. And even if a plank or tile is damaged, it can be clicked out without replacing the entire floor. It’s all possible with luxury vinyl flooring. It sells itself!
What if, in a few years, your floors are damaged? Most of our LVT and LVP flooring is protected by a lifetime residential warranty. Some also offer light commercial warranties of at least 10 years. So even if your floors do eventually need to be replaced, you won’t be on the hook for the cost. Some manufacturers offer transferable warranties, so if you ever decide to sell your home, you have yet another selling point.
